I had always dreamed of studying abroad, but vague fears kept me from making the decision easily. Eventually, I realized that in order to gain true competitiveness in a global environment, I needed to take on a new challenge—so I decided to apply to a Canadian four-year university.
The hardest part of the preparation process was achieving the required English scores. My initial mock IELTS score was only 5.0, and I especially struggled with Writing and Speaking. However, through David’s structured curriculum, I wrote essays daily and received detailed feedback, which helped me improve significantly.
Unlike in Korea, foreign universities carefully review application essays and statements—not only to check academic plans, but also to see whether the story is genuinely yours, not just a memorized template. David’s guidance on writing a strong statement of intent and on effective English study methods was invaluable.
Instead of simply writing, “I want to be accepted,” I learned to clearly explain why I chose this major, what my future plans are, and what value studying in Canada can bring me. This process helped me grow personally as well, shaping my values and goals.
Finally, I was accepted into my desired Canadian university! Now, I am studying in a new environment, experiencing diverse cultures, and embracing fresh challenges.
The biggest lesson I learned through this journey is that consistency and clear goals are the keys to success. And just as important—the teacher you work with truly makes all the difference.
For anyone preparing for admission to a Canadian university, my advice is simple:
“Don’t give up, and keep moving forward little by little every day (especially with Teacher David by your side!).”
